We Never Should Have Fought the Civil War

Precis
It's weird, but lately I wish we'd have let the south secede. The industrial revolution would have made slavery obsolete very fast; cheaper to run machines than humans. It would have meant the completely muffed Reconstruction would not have made enemies of the south who took their revenge out on the newly freed slaves. And they would most likely... not have instituted the Jim Crow laws and a social backlash against African Americans in the southern states to the degree they did. Civil Rights might have come easier. And we should have let Texas be it's own country so they descend into rank stupidity without taking the rest of the country with them.
